Understanding Thailand’s New Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

Thailand recently introduced the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), an important step towards modernising immigration processes. Following our recent webinar with Police Lieutenant Colonel Surakrit Kulsura Mueanmee from the Royal Thai Immigration, many expats have requested more clarity on this new requirement. Here’s everything you need to know.

What is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)?

Launched on 1 May 2025, the TDAC replaces the traditional paper-based TM6 form. This mandatory digital system aims to simplify immigration, reduce queues at checkpoints, improve national security through biometric checks, and monitor public health risks.

Who Needs to Complete the TDAC?

All non-Thai nationals, including expats, tourists, and business travellers entering Thailand by air, land, or sea, must complete the TDAC. You do not need the TDAC if you are only transiting through Thailand without passing immigration or using a Border Pass.

How and When to Complete the TDAC

Completing the TDAC is easy and free, but there are important steps to follow:

1. Use Only the Official TDAC Website

Avoid scams by using the official website: https://tdac.immigration.go.th/arrival-card/#/home. The form is available in English, Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Japanese.

2. Submit Up To 72 Hours Before Arrival

Please complete the form at least three days prior to your arrival in Thailand. It can be submitted on the day you arrive, but it is recommended to do so earlier to avoid any issues.

3. Required Information

Have the following information ready:

  • Personal Details: Passport number, full name, date of birth, nationality, occupation, gender, country of residence, and phone number.
  • Travel Information: Arrival and departure dates, country of embarkation, mode of travel, flight or vehicle number, and accommodation details in Thailand.
  • Health Declaration: Details of countries visited in the past two weeks, any symptoms experienced, and proof of Yellow Fever vaccination if required.

After submission, you will receive an email confirmation containing a QR code.

4. Save Your QR Code

Keep your confirmation email securely on your phone, cloud storage, or print it out. You must show this QR code at immigration.

Presenting Your TDAC at Immigration

When you arrive in Thailand, you need to show your TDAC QR code to immigration officials. You can present it digitally on your phone or tablet or as a printed copy. Not showing the QR code may result in being denied entry, so ensure it is accessible.

Practical Recommendations from an Immigration Officer

During our webinar, Lieutenant Colonel Surakrit highlighted these key points:

  • Always use the official TDAC website.
  • You can submit your TDAC form up to 72 hours before arrival.
  • Keep your QR code confirmation ready for immigration checks.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What if I make a mistake on my TDAC form? You can update travel or accommodation details after submission, but personal details cannot be changed. Check carefully before submitting.

How is TDAC different from TM30? TDAC is for entry into Thailand. TM30 is used by property owners to report foreign residents staying with them.

Why TDAC Matters to ExpatsTDAC is part of Thailand’s digital transformation, making entry quicker, safer, and easier. Recent experiences show strict enforcement, with travellers being denied entry for not complying.

By using this digital system, you can ensure smoother entry and enhanced security for everyone travelling to or living in Thailand.

Staying Updated

Check the official Immigration Bureau website and government resources regularly for updates. New developments, such as a mobile app, are expected soon.

Final Thoughts

Compliance with the TDAC is simple but essential. Making this digital form part of your travel routine will help prevent entry problems and streamline your arrival in Thailand.
